Cast Film can be used as well as an alternative to for packages requiring high barrier and excellent optical properties.
Cast film is easier to produce containing a high number of layers and new technologies allow to multiply several times those layers.
Better clarity, gloss, thickness uniformity and softer films are some of the advantages of cast barrier films versus blown films.
However, the mechanical properties are lower than those films produced by blown film.
Another disadvantage is that typically big orders are needed to produce efficiently in the cast process while blown film is a little more flexible and allow for more flexibility in changing orders.
